Educators Breakfast

Jennifer Swanson

Jennifer Swanson is the award-winning author of over 25 nonfiction and fiction books for children. Her books in the “How Things Work” series by The Child’s World were named to the 2012 Booklist’s Top 10 Books for Youth.

Sosin-Deborah
Deborah Sosin

Deborah Sosin is a writer and clinical social worker specializing in mindfulness. Her picture book, Charlotte and the Quiet Place, illustrated by Sara Woolley, was the Gold Winner for Best Picture Book in Foreword Reviews’ INDIEFAB Awards and the Silver Medal Winner in the IPPY Awards. She is also the author of Breaking Free of Addiction, a self-help workbook. Her essays have appeared in the Boston Globe Magazine, the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, on Salon and Cognoscenti, and elsewhere. She lives outside of Boston, Massachusetts.

Tired of reading the same story over and over again? Join us and learn to make reading exciting and interactive by through music and movement activities. We’ll offer tips on how to make daily reading more like play.

Expect a lively discussion on the provocative nature of science nonfiction books, including the role of research in nonfiction writing and ways to explore research elements. Discussion will also include how to pair nonfiction STEAM books with fiction books for students.
